The Project: Working in collaboration with Bosch Professional Powertools. Updating the design of a 20+ year old belt sander to fit into the modern lineup of Bosch 18V cordless powertools.
Design Aesthetics and Perception Semester: Aiming to investigate different aspects of design aesthetics in the field of product design. Looking into a wide spectrum of topics that shape our contemporary understanding of design aesthetics.The semester consisted of the following topics: Aesthetics and perception, colors in context, design movements, forms study, visual vocabulary, reading objects, aesthetics of interaction and user experience as well as design manifestation.

Outcome/Results: Concept of a modern belt sander was created. Design has been updated with modern Bosch design cues. Visual appearance, functions and ergonomicshave been updated to modern standards.
Learnings: Aesthetics: Importance of design cues, design language, also taking history of designers and movements into account. Design Process: Focused on design cues, communication with user thru visual appearance of design. Taking clients existing style-guide into account. Software: Communicating through visuals and documents created within the adobe creative suite (in design, lightroom, illustrator) Making 3D models and renders with blender.
